It has been a very full weekend, and I will post about that later. But I had to share this!! Here I am at an event for Families Like Us...those of us who have adopted across color lines. My sweet friend who I met through blogging many years ago, Ali is holding my baby girl Jasmine. I am holding her precious gift from God...her long awaited daughter Isabella who is only weeks younger than Jaz. Ali has two adorable sons, the youngest not yet two years old who happens to be Bella's full biological brother. She found out on his first birthday that his birthparents were once again pregnan and desired to place the baby with her. Ali has drooled over everyone's baby girls, rejoicing with them in their gifts- while secretly praying "Lord, may you see fit for me to have a daughter too!" I sent her a congratulations card on the pregnancy and said "think pink!!" We were all thrilled when the sonogram showed the baby was a girl!! Months of craziness ensued and Ali's faith was tested to the extreme. In the midst of all this drama, Jasmine was born unexpectedly and I was hesitant to tell my friend as I was sad for her that she was still waiting with such uncertainty for the birth and placement of her baby girl. But Ali was so sweet to rejoice with us! A few more agonizing weeks, and her dream came true! The journey to have her daughter home was unlike any I have ever heard about before, with it's twists and turns, and almost failures. Bella's place in Ali's family is a miracle, for sure!
Congratulations Ali and Dallas, Daniel and Joseph on the homecoming of your bundle of pink joy! I hope the girls can grow up to be wonderful friends.
