Isaac and Rescue Heros

So a week or so ago I was introduced to Fisher Price Rescue Heros. Isaac plays with them at school and LOVES them. I was pleased to see that a few characters were African American so this put me on the hunt for these retired toys. Not a store carries them that I am aware of except the ever faithful Once Upon a Child-gently used of course. The closest one was near my parents house so my Dad (the devoted Grandpa) went out on the quest today. He was successful! This of course peaked Grandma's curiosity so she ventured out later in the day to bring home the rescue center, 5 more figures, two vehicles, two vidoes, and a mountain lion. Needless to say, Isaac was thrilled to have them dropped off after dinner. The above one is my personal favorite, Jake Justice. Isaac told me he wanted some super heros that looked like him so I showed him this guy and he said "I don't have blue legs!" Goodness.

These are his first action figures. I like them because they are non-violent. They represent people who are in the helping fields, medics, cops, fire fighters, (including a girl!)park rangers, lifeguards...etc. They don't have weopons and they don't promote combat-which are two things we don't allow in our household.

In other Isaac news... Billy and I were amused to catch a conversation between him and a girl he met at the mall playground. They played tag and chased each other and then settled in to one of the toy cars. She said "you have to give me your phone number so we can call each other." and he said "sure, I'll call you." Oh my! We said to each other that we thought Vivi would be the one we will have to keep our eyes on...but after watching Isaac's smooth moves...Oh boy are we in trouble!

Ding Dong!

It's a birthday party!
The guests have arrived.

Ya'll know I like to throw a party, so last night Isaac and I hosted a big birthday bash at the dollhouse. We made balloons and hung up streamers. Then we made a little chocolate cake (sliced bananas and frosting). Isaac said "Is that going to be enough for everybody?"
We played party games and sent the guests home with balloons tied around their little plastic arms. It was a lot of fun. Vivi enjoyed ringing the doorbell as the guests arrived.

Getting Ready For Bed

These two are just peas in a pod now that they share a room. They eat together, bathe together, and brush their teeth standing side by side on the same footstool. Isaac likes to help sister. When we put them to bed they take turns each night and nap between lullabies and "stories" which are books on tape or cd. Vivi sometimes screams a lot because she doesn't want to go to bed and Isaac says, "Sister, I can't here my stories! Knock it off!" She will quiet down, find her pacifer and drift off to slumber. She is still a super light sleeper, almost always waking up if we come in the room to check on them. Thankfully Isaac can sleep through her night-time wakings...or screamings, is more like it. That girl is a pistol...my goodness! One of these days, I'll post about her rage fits. Like mother, like daughter.

Funny stuff

As you know, I don 't normally mention my husband's blog because in truth I often don't get it. But this latest story is a funny one! He needs people to help him title it and may submit it to a magazine-we don't know which one yet ( he has a story coming out in a July/ August issue of my favorite magazine...I'll reveal that when it comes out) but for now you have to go read this! http://www.goggycoffee.blogspot.com

Well we are finally fully unpacked and decorated! My favorite rooms are the kids room and bathroom. But I like the dining room too. I don't have pics of our bedroom and bath but they are pretty standard-nothing all that cute. The lack of square footage has surprisingly not bothered us at all. All of our important stuff fits and we have lots of space to get around. We like having the kids room on the opposite side from ours- at the house we were all right next to each other. So here it is!

One year and One Month

Here is Vivi (after drinking a cup of water!) fussing because I won't pick her up. This is a regular occurance in our house. I won't be tracking on here each month she is older as I did in her first year, but I thought I would note that she is 13 months and still has not said Mama. What is up with that? She follows me around fussing, she screams if I try to leave her at church, and even if Billy is holding her-she often lunges for me. She says Daddy and Isaac and Vivi...but no Mommy, Mama...I'd even settle for Mmmmm. What gives?
I'll let you know when she finally bestows a name upon me.

Bluebonnets

We have had an incredibly busy weekend, but we managed to squeeze in a few minutes for some spring pictures even though it was a chilly 68 degrees outside! So here are our results. As you can see Isaac was giving a goofy grin so we didn't get as many of him!

Window Watching

Our bedroom does not fit our bench at the end of the bed anymore, so we have put it in front of our big living room window that looks out to the parking lot. The kids have enjoyed this immensely. Every morning I pull the blinds up and Vivi gets up on it by stepping on the window sill. She spends much of her day sun bathing! I might have to start putting sunscreen on her. :) They also love watching Daddy pull into the parking lot where he waves to them before coming up. Isaac says "look Mommy, we live up in the sky!"

Our future preacher

We have thought for sometime now that Isaac might just want to be a pastor someday. Basically ever since we put him in a suit and tie last year! With the amount of volume and the fact that he likes to talk SO much- he won't need a P.A. system!

So today we were hanging a cross on the wall and he ran up to us gasping and said, "That is where God put Jesus and He died!" We stopped mid hammer and looked wide eyed as he continued, "and then the mean men took his body and put it in a big rock. And later the tomb was empty and Jesus was alive again! Hooray!" Oh my goodness- was all we could say. We gave him lots of praises and he finished his sermon with "remember, God loves you wherever you are!" as he sang the end tune to his BOZ video. What a memory this child has!

He also insists on doing the prayer before every meal which sounds very similar to that big green bear Boz. "Thank you God as this day ends for my family and my friends, taking time to sit and pray. Thank you, God for this great day. Thank you for my mommy and daddy and Vivi and dogs. Thank you for my new house and all the work we do to it. Thank you for this dinner. In Jesus name, Amen." So sweet!

Oh the joy that wells in a mother's heart when her son can dictate theology. :)

I'm Back!

Last day in the old house. Vivi was feverish and everyone was tired from packing!
Aliza is now a one year old!
Aliza's Mommy, Gloria and I were college roommates and in each other's weddings.

The kids and I drove to San Antonio for her b-day on Friday.
Gloria did a dragon cake. We would expect no less from her.

The girls enjoyed a bubble bath together.

I am officially back from my blogging break. Whew! Did you miss me? :) I will say I don't feel like my normal self as we have moved and with everything going on, I feel like I am in another world-spacey. What I am excited about is our new laptop which downloads pics on here like super fast! So get ready for some major picture posts.

So for the past couple weeks we were busy busy. The pictures here are of our trip to
San Antonio for Aliza Furman's first birthday! We joined their families and went to the zoo, ate dragon cake, and had a fun time watching her receive her gifts. Happy Birthday, Princess Aliza!

During our move, Vivi was sick but with the help of some serious naps and a couple of "Naked" smoothies, she was better in a few days and did fine on the trip except for her tantrums. That girl has hit toddlerhood running, that's for sure! I will post pics of our apartment soon as we are slowly getting things hung on the walls. It is not easy moving with two small children. I can't find my planner or address book so that is a real bummer. Hopefully it will show up soon.

I feel like there is so much I could say but my brain is a bit fried. In a couple days I will try to post pics of the wedding shower I threw for my good friend, Jen. It was fun! And I will also post pics of the kids new room. It is coming along nicely!

Hope everyone is doing well. I have enjoyed catching up on blogs now that we have internet again!
