Grocery Shopping Redefined

Okay, so ya'll know I LOVE to get a good deal. And blog about it. Our latest exciting savings was to go to Denny's for dinner (the 4 of us) on kids eat free night with a coupon for buy one adult meal get one free. So we all ate at a restaurant for around $8 plus tip. Sweetness. And Denny's has great healhy side dishes for kids so double bonus.
Anyway- awhile back a friend on facebook mentioned the grocery store she shops at called Aldi and how it is all generic brands, you bring your own bags and bag yourself and save a bundle. Our area just had their Aldi grand opening yesterday and we are getting another one in a month or so. Today I went and it was awesome. It is about the size of a Walgreens...maybe 5 aisles total. Everything is priced really below even store brands at other stores. I was able to get meat, produce (cheap!), milk, juice, canned foods, and snacks for the week. It was clean and very streamlined. And I saved so much time. I did it all in under 45 minutes. Here is the link to check out the Aldi near you. The best part is that I got all of this for a grand total (without the mess and hassle of coupons or calculators) for
drum roll....
$72.76

Other than drinks for the kids lunches, wheat tortillas, and sugar free maple syrup, I got all of our groceries for the week. I would have stocked up more but I want to try the food first before I commit to larger quantities. I will let you know how that goes!

Spring Break

This week is Spring break for the kids. Isaac has been doing a camp 3 days this week (tomorrow is the last day) called Jump n Art. This involves games and bounce houses with art elements like clay, watercolors, and other art mediums. The website states:
"Studies have shown that when physical activity is blended with creative pursuits, that creative capabilities are greatly enhanced"

I don't know if that is true but he is loving it! His artwork looks great too. They feed him lunch since he is there for 5 hours a day. Tomorrow a petting zoo is coming to the place. He makes friends so easily and has come an incredibly LONG way from the crying toddler we used to not be able to leave. He now readily accepts new experiences and new faces and finds fun from most situations. I think in a few years he will be ready for overnight summer camp since he makes friends wherever he goes! I am not looking forward to that since i wonder what he is doing when he is not with us. But it is little things like this day camp that is preparing both of us for further independence.

A Gem

In honor of our little girl turning three years old (tomorrow...gasp!), her daddy has written a gem. You need to read it! It is very charming. :)
