Juneteenth

Today we went to a Juneteenth celebration-the day that Texan slaves were declared free. The news arrived in Galveston about two years after the signing of the Emancipation Proclamation. Isaac quickly made some friends at the party ( I died laughing when he put his arms around these boys for the picture!) along with enjoying bounce houses, having his arm painted, a talent competition, and a giant dill pickle! Vivi was little miss social too. It was warm but we were in a pavilion so the shade was much appreciated!



Hanging out with the watermelon farmer. When we tried to coax him away he said "I think I'll stay right here for awhile."
