Piano Lessons

At the age of seven and a half, Isaac has begun his formal lessons in piano. Billy bought him a workbook and will be teaching him every Tuesday night. I will follow up with daily homework assignments that only last about 10-15 minutes. Sometime after Vivianna starts kindergarten, we will get a workbook for her too.

He flew through 2 entire lessons the first night. The book is called Alfred's Premier Piano Course 1A. He will move on to the music Theory Book and then the Performance Book as he completes each course. They all come with cd's so that he can hear the music as well as learn to read it.

The songs appeal to any gender with titles like:
"Treasure Map, Dream Big Dreams, Gumball Machine, Skateboard Champ, and Hopscotch."

Billy got his bachelor's degree in music, with his main instrument being guitar and piano secondary. He said that it is best if the kids all learn piano first and then if they are interested in an instrument beyond that...it will be a great base to start from. He is looking forward to teaching Isaac and Jayden guitar and Vivi the Ukelele. We think that Isaac should also learn drums as he has a natural rhythm, and I think Jasmine should do Voice...that girl has a set of pipes on her I have never heard before!

But we still have many more years for that to be determined. :)
