J's Birthday Party

J had a wonderful birthday and started his first day of school!
(for clarification: his tie is screenprinted on the black sweater. I didn't put him in a tie for school. LOL)
He woke up Sunday morning to donuts and balloons. and got to play with the toys we bought with the giftcard his grandparents gave him.

I tied balloons to a little firetruck which he wanted to open right away!

On our way to dinner, we saw an actual firetruck!
Perfect. :)

Our friends (who have never missed one of our kids birthdays),
Jen and Jay met us for pizza!

There were maybe 3 other customers in the whole place because of the snow, so I set his party up in a quiet corner and then we took our pizza buffet to the movie room which was playing Despicable Me.

I bought licorice to represent fire hoses and firetruck plates/napkins.

Vivi helped me shop for their party favors, candy cups with a fireman action figure.

J loved playing games.

And riding this and the giant rocking pirate ship.

After games it was cupcake time!

He had the sweetest smiles when we sang to him!

Then presents! We gave him a Little People firestation and some bath pirate toys.
He had a great day! He kept saying "My birfday, Mommy?"
We love you, J!!!

My Baby Boy's 3rd Birthday!!

Happy Birthday to our youngest!!
We have enjoyed a very fire truck day so far with hopefully more fun tonight at a pizza/gaming place. BUT the snow is falling down for the first time this season in huge fluffy flakes...so we are praying the roads don't ice us in!
It is fun for us that we have kids with birthdays in the Fall, Winter, and Spring. I think our next baby should be born in the Summer...don't you? ;)
Pictures of all the birthday festivities will come tomorrow!

My Barbie Girl

Vivi got quite a bit of Barbie paraphernalia for Christmas
She has been into Barbie since she found out that her favorite color is pink too!

Here she is with the foldable vacation house, and we were able to utilize her bedroom bookshelf for the other Barbie furniture. This way I can pack it all up and store it away in her closet to keep the small pieces from the prying fingers of a certain little brother!

Regardless of how you feel about Barbie, and her skimpy outfits (I'm right there with ya!)...

You can't deny how adorable all these little accessories are!
Yes, that is a bowl of doritos (like Barbie would be caught dead eating those with her waistline!) and a remote control in a flower holder! I have so many childhood memories of playing Barbie with my sister and later the kids I babysat for. Barbie really is a classic toy for me...like a long lost childhood friend! :) Vivi has become much more independent in her play since getting her Barbie gear, she talks about the characters that she and I make up like they are her new BFF's. We have had singing contests with the girls in their rock star outfits, where we pitch out our favorite Chipettes tunes. Takes me back to the 80's...all that's missing is Vivi in a pair of legwarmers and my hair in a scrunchie!
The Barbie convertible couldn't be cuter with it's zebra lined interior.
LOVE having a girl!!

The Latest With J!

I have several big announcements to make about J!
The first is that he is potty trained!!! We have been diaper free since Friday. He has done really well with only about one accident a day. We are 50/50 on doing #2 in the potty so I am hoping that gets better as he learns control. He is loving sporting his big boy underpants (and choosing from Mickey, Buzz, Wall-E, The Incredibles, Nemo, or Elmo) and putting stickers on his chart.
(Please excuse his little dry ankles in this photo! It is wintertime, but we are now on a prescription for excema ;)
He probably could have been potty trained months ago, but I just didn't have time to devote to it. I was joking with some friends on the phone that the 3rd child has to train themselves! There was not quite the fan fair that the other two got when they were training. Basically I put a basket of books and clean underwear in the bathroom, a sticker chart on the wall, and told him to go for it! Thank goodness he is super independent because my attention is pulled in so many different directions to be sitting in a bathroom for long periods of time! In other news, J officially graduated from ECI (Early Childhood Intervention) and has qualified for PPCD (Public Preschool for Children with Disabilities), which means he will get to go to school every morning M-F!!! He will actually be going to the same elementary school that Isaac goes to from 7:45-10:45 a.m. this semester and in the fall until his annual review comes up next January. Then they will determine if he still qualifies for PPCD with a speech impairment. I could not be more thrilled because he is going to be in a Pre-K classroom (like Isaac was) with four teachers and will be receiving all of that curriculum plus a speech therapist weekly. The fun part is, he starts on Monday! Why so soon? Well...our little guy will be turning 3 years old this Sunday and the program takes children as soon as they turn 3 and are kicked out of the ECI program. So onto the final news announcement...as I said, our baby is turning THREE years old!! Can you believe it? He has come such a long way from the chubby little two and a half year old that came home last summer. He is taller, leaner, stronger, and much more active. We have decided to forgo hosting a party because he will have his big adoption party in the Spring/Summer when we finalize. But we will celebrate his birthday, and of course my party planning mind has already taken care of where we will go and the theme! He loves firetrucks so that is the theme of his little family celebration and he loves pizza, so we will take him to his first trip to Gattitown. I bought him some firetruck themed gifts and party favors for he and his siblings. It should be fun!
I will post photos on Sunday.
