Boys' Bedroom Redo

On a whim one night I told Billy that I wanted to
take down the bunk beds in the boys room.

I gave him no warning.

We knew we would have to sell the dresser to make room for the beds, so I put it on Craigslist at 7:30 in the morning and it was sold by noon.

That put me on a tailspin to complete the room which I did in 24 hours.

I now keep all of their clothes in cute little baskets under their beds.

I went with a Carnival theme so that I could put to good use all of my leftover party decor.

It was a lot of fun.

Here is a list of all of the items I used to pull this off and the cost where applicable:

Bunting duvets with shams, lamp, rug: Ikea $60
Colored sheet sets: Target $30
Carnival signs: Hobby Lobby
Hanging lanterns: Target $7
Underbed baskets: Walmart and Target $32
Carnival Wall Game: Walmart $5
Photo Wall Posters: Edited @ Picmonkey.com; Walgreens $24
Throw Pillows: Etsy Seller Ted and Lucy
Misc. Carnival decor items: Dollar Tree $10

Galveston Beach

I was able to capture K's first dip into the Gulf of Mexico when we were in Galveston.
It was his first trip to any beach.

He loved it.

But then the boys got too far away from us.
We may have panicked a little.

Okay...a lot.

I am not used to having a child old enough to handle these things.

So we left pretty quickly.
I felt bad for him that his first trip to the beach was cut short because of our lack of planning...i.e. Mom and Dad were not in bathing suits; had no beach towels for wet, sandy children and it was 100 degrees outside.

We apologized and promised return visits with endless amounts of time to jump in the waves and soak up the sun.

Travel Pillows!!

Right before we left for our little weekend trip to Houston, the mail arrived with four beautiful surprises!

The Etsy seller Ted and Lucy whom I featured on my Summer Giveaway sent me four pillows as a thank you for all the orders she has received through my blog!

Doesn't she do a gorgeous job?

The girls pillows have zebra backs which match their room decor.
When Jasmine grows out of her crib, they will share the double bed, so these will be the perfect accent pillows.

Until then, Jasmine's is super cute in her crib!
Go check out Ted and Lucy for an adorable travel pillow or accent pillow for your child's room, and please tell them Laurie sent you when you place your order!!

40th Wedding Anniversary Party

Billy's parents celebrated their 40th anniversary this weekend in Galveston.

His aunts and sister planned a very pretty party at Landry's across from the beach.

It was the perfect location.

Billy gave the prayer and a speech and my contribution was event photography.

The cake had a photo of them at their wedding and them at our wedding!

There were photo albums on the cake table for guests to look through.

I matched the boys outfits and coordinated the girls!

And we took the opportunity for some family photos!

Padre and Nana with all their grandbabies!

K and Jasmine say, "Happy Anniversary Nana and Padre!!!"

T's Birthday and Homecoming

K's brother, "T" has been home with his family 2 weeks today. It happened very fast like our homecoming with K. He was so excited to move in and has been buzzing around his new house at lightning speed ever since. He is an absolute delight to his family...not perfect as all older child adoptions have their challenges...but really the perfect fit for them. Here is a fabulous update on his  Mama's blog about all the things he has been up to the past two weeks! They have kept him very busy and active and he is having a blast. I have been so very impressed with all the changes they have taken on to make him their son and give him a comfortable place in their home that is all his own. I always loved and respected this family but they are now in my top 5 most admired families I know. Just check out his gorgeous bedroom.
These are just the preliminary pictures. That bookshelf is now full of wonderful things, his bed is messy and unkept (as a tween's room usually is) and his desk wall has pictures and things hanging. He also has an adorable blue chair (seen in the above corner) with an initial pillow on it, and his name in vinyl above the closet door. It is perfect for a kid his age and interests.
You should see how he scampers about this room like he owns the place...because he now does!
Here is a picture of my boys welcoming him home with game playing.
It has been a flawless transition.

This past weekend his parents hosted a 12th birthday party for him at the city pool:
Here is Jasmine with T's Mom...her new Aunt Maile!
This is T's new brother, James.
T greeted all his party guests with high fives.
And his dad, Jeremy...whom Isaac LOVES by the way.

We have all had a lot of fun with our new family members!
